Longbridge  Birmingham

Advantage West Midlands

PCPT initial brief was to prepare a feasibility study and concept proposal that specifically looked at the ‘edges’ and the community aspects of the regeneration for the former Longbridge MG Rover works following the public consultations.  In essence all of the aspects that could well have been forgotten about or overlooked when the global masterplan was delivered.  Four diverse strains were identified in various locations:

  • Memory Centre’ which focuses on continuing the engineering history of the site under the same roof as a civic function, a link to  education (Bourneville College), arts café and library.
  • Improvements to the underused green space in the area (Crofton Park).
  • New community facilities.
  • A regional sustainability centre to help the suburbs of the region manage future changes in climate.
