Derwent Works  Mary Ann Street, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

Midland City Developments

The site, formally of an industrial forge with office space before becoming largely redundant, spans the full distance from Mary Ann Street, neighbouring St Paul’s square within the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area. The Structure’s themselves have recognised architecturally significance through Grade II Listed status.

The scheme accommodates 96 residential units, contained within both new build and existing structures. With commercial office space contained solely within the existing office’s area. Two Courtyards form the heart of the scheme both enclosed by new and existing structures. One of which occupies the existing manufacturing space, turning the structure inside-out and exposing the original features of the industrial use to the semi public realm.

Underneath the inside-out courtyard deck parking has been formed under with access off water street.
