Mixed Uses

Towns and City centres are now understanding the true nature of mixed uses.  In some of the larger cities a mixture of uses never ‘went away’, but in many towns and metropolitan areas - especially in the Midlands with the ‘good times’ of the booming manufacturing industries and the noxious processes – living away from the centres to the suburbs living was the rule.  Now, encouraged by government initiatives, a move back to the city has been seen.

It is an obvious prerequisite that mixed uses should be meaningful, add to the urban fabric and concentrate living, working and leisure in close proximity. The schemes illustrated here are either just completed, about to start on site or await approval.  Each features residential uses above leisure or retail.
